Wing Loader Updates Coming for WC1-3
Destro has a new update on what to expect in the future for the Wing Loader program. He added preliminary support for WC4, Prophecy and Secret Ops towards the end of last year, but there's still plenty to do for the earlier games in the series. Now that in-game speech is working in WC1, I might be most excited about what is happening with WC3. He's made some major breakthroughs regarding the ability to add ODVS' enhanced video footage. There's even the potential to add back in scenes like news clips and the Hobbes explanation that are only included in the console ports. It's all exciting stuff! You can download the latest version here.I've got a few things planned for a new release. Currently I'm working on some memory fixes, better camera code to fix some jumpy issues I've seen online:In regards to Wing Commander 3
- A few changes to the scripting to make reading it easier.
- Added in Imgui support and making preferences so users can switch features on and off, including running the dos versions from inside Wing Loader. (Experimenting with voiceovers in DosBox but I don't know if it is possible due to how DosBox assigns memory addresses.)
- Adding the Origin Orchestra intro to WC1 and WC2
- Fixed a few missing voice overs in WC1 script.
I'm still on the hunt for mission flags for Win, Lose, objectives and so on. Need these for dialogue that starts different depending on how you flew your mission. Ex: Cobra after mission 1. Hobbes works fine because it always starts the same.
- True MP4 support is now up and running using libvlc. No need to convert ODVS videos and can now run the natively.
- Found some flags for cockpit textures that let me run the correct Pre flight sequence.
I'm back to full time work so progress is a bit slow but I'm hoping to have a new version out soon and maybe include a WC3 HD video demo with it.
Any ideas for new features are always welcome but thanks for checking in. :)
